IMAP

Why does C.V. Lemmon & Co. actively participate in the International Network of M&A Partners (IMAP)?

First and foremost, because IMAP allows us to serve you better.

A client once asked, “Isn’t IMAP just eye candy?” We proved to him and we will prove to you that IMAP is a thriving organization geared for your success. IMAP is a seamless global partnership of select M&A advisors focused on middle-market transactions, typically from $5 million to $250 million. With roots reaching back more than 35 years, IMAP has evolved to include almost 60 member firms in more than 40 countries covering five continents. IMAP is a prosperous, dynamic network that helps us provide strategic international coverage to our clients.

IMAP helps us make connections and deliver results. IMAP members have a world of knowledge and put it to use every day on a global scale. That’s why it is the oldest and most prestigious global mid-market merger and acquisition organization.

In addition to face-to-face conferences every six months, IMAP members post all opportunities and requests on a secure server. We communicate by telephone and e-mail to facilitate:

  1. Information sharing regarding key developments impacting the acquisition and sale of companies.
  2. Confidential communications among highly experienced dealmakers.
  3. Direct access to qualified international buyers and sellers.
  4. Introductions to and communications with outstanding specialists in niche markets and strategic business centers to anticipate and overcome issues encountered from cultural and language differences.

Most importantly, our strategic relationships deliver results through the power of a global partnership.

Thanks to IMAP, C.V. Lemmon & Co. provides clients with the gateway to:

  • Leverage international M&A contacts for middle-market transactions.
  • Negotiate middle-market opportunities with solid advice.
  • Navigate the language, cultural, legal and financial differences between companies and countries.
  • Establish trust and confidence among parties to a transaction.

The majority of IMAP professionals have earned advanced educational degrees. English is the required common language. Attendance at four-day conferences is mandatory twice per year. Conferences last four days and are heavily scheduled with confidential deal presentations, networking, breakout sessions and meetings. IMAP conferences are held on alternating continents and have recently been in Washington D.C., Paris, Vancouver, Vienna, Sarasota, Oslo and Mexico City. Local country tours and leisure time is limited during a conference, but is encouraged before or after each conference.

IMAP participation is expensive. Dues are $20,000 per year plus the cost of international travel and time away from the office. With so much time and money invested in our IMAP membership, we at C.V. Lemmon & Co. make certain that our participation continually serves the best interest of our clients.

Charles Lemmon served as IMAP’s Membership Chairman for two years and served on the Board of Directors for three years. He continues to serve on several committees.

The IMAP experience has been highly rewarding to C.V. Lemmon & Co. over the past 13 years. We have built lasting friendships with professional colleagues from Asia, Europe and Latin America. We know our colleagues both professionally and socially. We share a common bond of trust, which greatly enhances our effectiveness in working for you.

WHAT ARE THE RESULTS?

In 2006, together with our IMAP partners, we completed 218 middle-market transactions with a total transaction value of $6.3 billion.

In 2007, our performance grew to 250 transactions totaling $9.8 billion.
